Facilities

	Medicines for pain and symptom control as per WHO guidelines. We have been licensed by Drug Controller to procure, stocks and dispense Oral Morphine. (Our's is one of the very few centers in TamilNadu where oral morphine is available for cancer patients).
	Fifty beds for in-patients - Specialised care by doctors and nurses trained in Palliative care.
	Dormitory facilities for patient's relatives - relatives are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with the patient.
	Social work intervention and special care
	Round the clock nursing care.
	Counseling services.
	Services of volunteers.
	Food individualized to a patient's need.
	Entertainment programs, recreation facilities (like T.V, music, games, library,gardening) and festival celebrations.
	All community prayer services.
	Ambulance service to transport patients to and from the hospice.
	Last rites done by the hospice for the destitute - as per their religious beliefs. Burial or cremation in the event of death of destitute patients.
All these services at Jeevodaya are rendered absolutely free of cost to all, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

A boon to Cancer patients

Pain is one of the most common and most feared symptoms of Cancer; feared more, sometimes, than death itself. Paradoxically most cancers are painless to start with; however, 70 - 75% of patients with cancer experience moderate to severe pain in the course of their disease.The severity of pain is more likely to increase with the progression of the disease or during therapy.

The first step is the use of non-steroidal analgesics for mild pain, the second, weak opiods for moderate pain and the third step the use of strong opiods (morphine) for severe pain.The second and third are combined with co-analgesics or other adjuvants.
