 Objectives  
Every human being on the planet has the right to live and die with dignity. Let us join hands so that our brothers and sisters do not fade away in agony, pain and loneliness.
To provide symptomatic, palliative care by trained medical and nursing staff to advanced cancer patients, who are certified to be beyond active treatment by medical experts.
To provide emotional care and support to the advanced cancer patients and to their immediate family members.
To provide services to the advanced cancer patients who are poor.
To provide service to the advanced cancer patients who are abandoned or rejected by the families.
To organise cancer awareness and cancer detection camps in rural and urban communities.
To refer the identified cases to various treatment centers.
To provide services to the advanced cancer patients free of cost irrespective of community, caste or religion.
To organize educational programmes to create awareness on cancer in rural and urban communities.
To develop audio visual aids and educational materials on the medico-social aspects of cancer.
To promote research on the medico-social aspects of cancer and share the findings through publications.

Establish and maintain community health clinics.


The Jeevodaya committee wishes to raise a corpus fund for running a Day Care center for Cancer patients as well as an out patient clinic in the city of Chennai.
Detailed below, is "A Wish List" for Jeevodaya, and funds raised through this appeal will be directed towards these activities

Jeevodaya, Mathur

 Doctors quarters - residential quarters for the doctor to stay with their family.
 To start a small canteen for the relatives of the patients.
 Equip the library general.
 ANM training (hoping to start it straight-away)
 Equip the classroom  / auditorium with audio visual equipment.

 To conduct annual workshops on palliative care.

 To Start a training center for training doctors and nurses.

 To improve the standard of the Newsletter

 To have a separate mortuary van.

Staff Requirements

 To employ atleast 2 medical officers
 Full time (staying in the quarters) - Rs.20,000/month
 Part time medical officer - Rs.10,000/month
 Driver cum mechanic - Rs.4,000/month
 Two more cleaning staff - Rs.1,500/month
 Assistant cook - Rs.1,000/month
Jeevodaya - City Center
 Renting/leasing a building for minimum of Rs.25,000 to Rs.30,000 per month
 Equipping and furnishing the building
 Ambulance/van + (maintenance of vehicle)
Staff Requirements

 Four staff nurses - Rs.10,000 per month.

 2 ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) 5000/month
 Last grade servants - 4 Rs.1,000/month each
 Driver - Rs.4,000/month
 Last grade servants - 4 Rs.1,000/month each

 Watchman two shifts - Rs.2,000/month each

 PRO - Rs.7,000/month
 Receptionist cum telephone operator - Rs.6,000/month
 Clerical staff to maintain records - Rs.5,000/month

 Mastectomy clinic(provide counseling and prosthesis)
 Laryngectomy clinic (for speech therapy)
 Counseling services for patients and relatives
 Organize self help groups
 Alternative therapy, (yoga relaxation therapy etc.
Educational / screening services
 Screening for oral, breast and cervical cancers(including PAP smears)
 Breast clinic with mammography
Cancer information Service
 Provide information and guidance for all cancers (distribute pamphlets and audio visual shows etc.)
