Andrea's Medical History
Here's a brief history, as I have a 22 month old tugging on my shirt!
I just celebrated my 7th anniversary of my stroke on 17th May. I had a bilateral VAD at the age of 28.
I was having dizziness and nausea for a week and then finally at the end of the week I was falling
over to the left and unable to walk. I was also vomiting, seeing double and slurring my speech.
Upon my arrival at the ER, as my neighbor carried me inside....the admitting nurse was asking me what
drugs I took! Can ya believe it!
I spent three weeks in the hospital and needed lots of rehab.
Brief ST (my speech cleared in a day), OT and PT. I experienced Right Horner's syndrome, left side
weakness and right sided sensation deficits.
My only residual problems after 7 years are a constant burning sensation in my left leg and foot...very
annoying but able to tolerate.
I also THINK that my attention to detail and auditory comprehension in groups is not as sharp as pre
stroke......But I am alive and very well.
I live in Florida with my husband of 4 years and beautiful son that my neuro told me NOT to have.
Looking forward to learning about you all. Best wishes,
Andrea
Current Symptoms
The good news is that after seven years the only residual symptom that Andrea has is the burning
sensation on her affected leg & foot.
The very good news is ofcourse that there is blood flowing again in both her vertebral arteries.
Senior Member
Andrea is the senior member of the group not in age but the fact that she had the vertebral artery
dissection "SEVEN" years ago, which should give us recent strokees a lot of hope.
